Unless something is undesirable to us, we do not like things to be temporary. No one wants a happy temporary relationship, a well-paying temporary job, or a beautiful temporary friendship.
If something is lovely and fulfilling, we want it to last. If not forever, at least longer. We want to hold on to it a little longer. That's why it's hard to let go of things when they end.
We don't want to accept that things and people are here for a short period to teach us a lesson and leave. But it's not our fault because when we become used to something or someone, they grow on us. They become like a part of us.
When things come to an end, it's like losing a part of us, which is painful. But acceptance is the only way we can be able to let go. Accepting that it had to be temporary and being grateful that it happened is the first step to being able to move on.
Remember, that the pain you feel at that moment is also temporary. No pain lasts forever. Just like the dark, the sun will rise in the morning. Avoid making permanent decisions based on the temporary feelings you feel. The feelings will go, but some decisions will live with you.
Along the same lines, stop doing permanent things for temporary people. Sometimes we give too much of ourselves to people who are not invested in staying. Watch out for the signs early. Observe how they treat you and listen to their words.
Sometimes we go through pain that we could have avoided just because we refused to see the signs. Our ‘temporary quotes' remind us that just like the night, this too shall pass, and we should not hold on too tight to things we should let go of.
