Mehmet Murat Ildan is a Turkish playwright, novelist, and thinker who was born on 16, May 1965 in Elazig, East Turkey. He studied in Ankara and got his high school diploma in 1982. He was awarded first place winner by Ankara Private Yenisehir College.
Mehmet spent one year in English Preparatory School in Ankara at the Middle East Technical University. He received a degree in Economics and got a Turkish scholarship for Masters and Ph.D. degrees.
He also took French and English language courses and another course in Money-Finance and Banking. Mehmet received his Masters degree in Economics in 1991. He had a military service stint in Turkey before getting his Ph.D. in 1977.
Mehmet began his writing career in 1993. That's when he wrote the poetry book, Bright Candles. It was first published in English in England then in Turkey in 1995. A poem from the book was published in the Georgian Blue Poetry Anthology.
He took a break from writing between 1993 to 1998 when he bounced back and wrote stories consecutively for 6 months. He left his economics job in 1999 and became a professional writer in 2000. His focus was mainly on plays.
Since then, he has published 7 plays, 25 stories, 3 novels, and a storybook. Three of his plays Master Moliere is Marrying, Galileo Galilei, and Emmanuel Arago's diary, have been accepted into the Repertory of Turkish State Theatre. His plays Eyes of Magic, Beggar's Prophecy, and Emmanuel Arago's Diary have been included in the Repertory of Istanbul City Theatre.
