Belief is when you accept that something is true or it exists. It's also having faith in someone or something. We all have a belief in something whether it's a deity, magic, political party, etc.
A belief should be out of choice and not something you accept because of other people. Beliefs make us who we are, what we think of others, how we see ourselves, and how we interact with the world.
Personal beliefs are the brain's way of making sense of the world to navigate it easily. They give us a sense of safety which makes it hard to change what we believe in. Even when we have no evidence for our beliefs, we usually become defensive of them whenever they are questioned.
Beliefs are formed through our experiences and what others tell us is true. Our core beliefs are formed in childhood when our brains are still developing. They are influenced by the environment we grow up in and the people around us like our parents, teachers, and friends.
Our beliefs affect how we think, feel, and act. If we grow up being told that something is wrong, we carry that belief with us. We avoid doing it because we now believe that it is wrong. Even when it's not, we will experience feelings of guilt when we do it because our subconscious mind has been trained to know that it's wrong.
Some beliefs are good for us. They guide us morally and lead us to success. However, some beliefs can be self-limiting making us unable to reach our full potential because we are scared of going against what we believe to be true.
