Max Lucado is an American author and minister at Oaks Hills Church located in San Antonio, Texas. Born on 11 January, 1955, he was the youngest of four children. He went to Abilene Christian University for a degree in Mass Communication.
Initially, Max wanted to become a lawyer but a Bible course that was a requirement at his university and a mission trip made him change his mind choosing to be missionary instead. He graduated from Abilene with a Master's degree in Bible and Biblical Studies.
After his graduation, Max became an associate minister at Central Church of Christ in Miami, Florida. He left Miami after two years with his new wife and they both became full-time missionaries in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
In 1988, he had already returned to Texas and he became a minister at the Oak Hills Church of Christ in San Antonio, Texas. Feeling that he was already an established author, he stopped taking salary from the church in 1990.
As a bishop, his church used musical instruments in worship services and believed that baptism is not required for salvation. This practice and belief did not sit well with the two key doctrines of the Churches of Christ.
In 2003, Max's church cut ties with them and simply called itself Oak Hills Church. In 2007, after serving as a minister for 20 years, Max annonced that he would step down because of health concerns.
Max believes that the Bible is infallible and holds true the trinitarian view of God. He has written around 100 books with 130 million copies in print and has been on several best-seller lists including the New York Times.
Christianity Today named Max America's Pastor and in 2005, Reader's Digest named him ‘The Best Preacher In America'. Here are outstanding Max Lucado quotes, Max Lucado sayings, and Max Lucado captions you will enjoy reading!
